The properties are:
(1) The high temperature volume is stable, and the furnace body will not change due to the temperature fluctuation surface. Due to the high load softening temperature of silicon brick, the creep rate is small, and the glass kiln can maintain the furnace body without deformation at 1600ºC, and the structure is stable;
(2) No pollution to liquid glass. The main component of silicon brick is SiO2, in use, if there are falling blocks or surface droplets, does not affect the quality of the glass liquid;
(3) Chemical erosion resistance. The silicon brick of the upper structure is eroded by the gas containing R2O in the glass ingredients, and a smooth metamorphic layer is formed on the surface, which reduces the erosion rate and plays a protective role.
(4) Small volume density, can reduce the weight of the furnace body.
General scale quartz 50%-75%. High-grade products due to less flux impurities, cristobalite can exceed 50%. The remaining quartz is not more than 3%. Some users want to use square and scale type silicon bricks, that is, the ratio of cristobalite to scale quartz content is greater than 1. More users want to use a squame-type silicon brick, that is, the ratio of cristobalite to squame-quartz content is equal to or less than 1. The linear expansion rate of the squame-sided silicon brick is small, which is conducive to maintaining the stability of the kiln body. When in use, the squamous quartz in the hot end brick can be gradually transformed into cristobalite, and the low melt migrates to the cold end.
The shape of the product should be regular, the size deviation is not greater than the design value of ±1%, the taper of the wedge brick should be accurate, do not allow a width greater than 0.5mm cracks and cooling cracks caused by improper cooling, the working face and non-working face crack length should be limited respectively. The distortion of the brick surface is not greater than 0.5% of the brick length
